American Waltham Watch Company
One of the earliest and most prolific U.S. watch makers based in Waltham, Mass. The American Watch Co. operated from 1852 to 1957, producing roughly 35 million watches. As stated by Carl Sandberg in his biography of President Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president owned and carried a "William Ellery" 18 size key wind silver cased pocket watch.
